Sometimes it is hard to see the rest of the world from behind the borders of your own country; figuratively and literally, of course. Yet, at the same time, as we build our borders high we still crave to see the rest of the world – at least how the media portrays it to us. This is not how I want to experience the world any more and so when I found twin fountains in Singapore, I knew it was time for me to set my sights elsewhere and experience the vaster world without the filter of American nuances. I wish we did not have such a strange and frightening way of-looking at the world around us. I am not sure what has caused us to react in such a way but we seem so fearful, as if the rest of the world is out to get us. How did we come to this? When I visited Singapore it was nothing like this.
